Explanation
This indicator concerns regular appointments, either permanent or for an extended period, as extraordinary professor, fellow, visiting scholar, or as a member of an advisory board or supervisory board of a research institution. It does not include more or less informal guest appointments or short-term work affiliations.
Usefulness
This indicator is reasonably useful when based on the documents underpinning the appointment. These documents must refer to mutual obligations and offer explicit recognition of the researcher’s work.
